Breathing Pretty Easily Lately

It's beauty time here in Roseville lately.  I have been walking on a regular basis and enjoying the wonderfulness of nature.  There are acres and acres of preserved lands within our community since we have an abundance of the California Oak trees which are protected.  We are also a designated Audubon Society preserve and residents have identified an awesome number of birds and wildlife in our midst.

Beginning in February,  the land was still green and wet and the vernal pools were full of life, the colors and textures were unbelievable to behold.  The Oaks were still barren and the color of the bark and limbs was a very special gray, blue, green, buff, black, etc.; I guess every variation of the color wheel.

In March and April I noticed the green grasses with lots of purplish stems and flowers, some yellowish-pinkish flowers, and an overall softness to the whole scene.

It's May already and the grasses are yellowish-pale orangish with green tops, whispy whitish feathery parts that are obviously seed to be splashed about by the winds that are so much a part of our weather right now.  My walk today was so enjoyable since the temperature is cooler than it has been.

This is a small painting I did of the trail that I take sometimes through the Preserve.  That's a big Oak that sits at the top of the hill and one can barely see the tops of the homes that sit up on that rise.

The painting is not quite done.  I think the sky needs a little tiny bit of work and then it will be ready to take to Sutter Creek Gallery, where I will be showing art over the summer.  Yay, excited about my walks and being in touch with nature and about hanging paintings in a new place...and breathing pretty easily lately.
